The All-Ages, laugh out loud Comic Book Series The Miscellaneous Adventures of STYKMAN™ Returns via the crowdfunding platform Indiegogo
November 15, 2018
After a 10-year hiatus, the critically acclaimed, all-ages comic book series The Miscellaneous Adventures of STYKMAN™, once named one of the top Independent comic books 3 years in a row, returns via the crowdfunding platform Indiegogo.
Created, written and illustrated by Jonnie Allan, The Miscellaneous Adventures of STYKMAN™ is a 48 page, full color, comic book series – perfect for children and adults alike – about a fledgling, wanna-be hero trying desperately to follow in the footsteps of the Legendary Capt. BUCK NEKID (ret.)™. Through bungled crime scenes, botched rescue attempts, and sheer dumb luck, this bumbling buffoon of a branch, along with his enigmatic extraterrestrial sidekick AL, shall prove himself worthy of the global adulation he believes he so richly desires.
In the latest miscellaneous adventure entitled STICK IN THE MUD, STYKMAN has been taken hostage by the nefarious General Sod the Dirt Clod™ in an attempt to exact revenge on anyone trying to reclaim the mantle left behind by The Legendary Captain BUCK NEKID™. It will take every zany thought and incredibly stupid scheme for the emaciated egotist to escape the evil clutches of the Crumbling Curmudgeon.
First released in 2005 and previously distributed by Diamond Comics Distributors, The Miscellaneous Adventures of STYKMAN™ series relaunch will be available exclusively via the crowdfunding platform Indiegogo and will be distributed directly to campaign backers via direct mail. The crowdfunding campaign launched on Thursday, November 15, 2018, and is scheduled to run through Saturday, December 15th, 2018.
The campaign goal is to raise $15,000 to cover the cost of production, printing, and shipping of the comic, fees paid to Indiegogo and credit card processing, as well as cover additional “perks” offered to backers. Those perks include the comic itself, a “Behind the Branch - A Big Book of Buffoonery” special sketchbook and backstage pass to the comic book series, hand-drawn and colored character head-sketches, a chance to appear in the comic, and the original art from the comic itself– something Jonnie Allan has never made available before.
In addition to the perks that are available to all backers, several “stretch goals” are planned should the campaign raise funds beyond its initial goal. Those include an additional 12 pages added to the comic book bringing it to 64 pages, Bookmarks, posters, foil-wrapped collectible trading cards (with gum), and more. All backers will receive every stretch goal that is unlocked making their contribution to the campaign that much more valuable.
“Timing is everything, and I believe now is the perfect time to relaunch the series,” says series creator Jonnie Allan. “The comic book industry has grown a little dark, and rather uninspired as of late; there are very few comics out there that are accessible and enjoyable to both kids and adults alike. My goal in bringing this character back out now is to inject a little levity into their lives and back into the world of escapism that I and so many others love.”
